What makes Monarch Clean and Supportive Living Homes different from everyone else?

Monarch is built on the foundation of integrity and returning dignity to residential recovery living.

The difference with Monarch starts with our title; Monarch Clean and Supportive Living Homes. Not only are we a luxury residential recovery company, but equally important we provide a supportive living structure designed around the individual.  Supportive living can have various meanings but specific for us is the “whole person” approach to recovery based sober living. Many times our clients come from specialized and individualized treatment programs focusing in on specifics related to that person’s addiction, their mental and physical health, work and family life.  At Monarch Homes we work with treatment centers to help step down the care from a medical facility to an appropriate residential recovery home with due care still strongly emphasized on the person as a whole and all of their unique needs.  As we have seen and studies prove, not one uniform solution works for all.

As much of our company product is the actual home and furnishings themselves, the key to unlocking our success is the attention to detail that we spend with each person, helping them to develop skills based on how they interact with the group and how well they learn to redevelop their thinking around the use of drugs and alcohol.  In addition to growth in recovery and abstaining from drugs and alcohol, residents learn imperative social skills.  Among these skills is learning to follow a schedule, respect deadlines and come to appreciate the importance of guidelines and healthy routines in their lives.

Much of our disease in recovery is a mental disorder surrounding the obsession of control.  At Monarch we help our residents learn to ease the grip, take a look at where they are, where they want to go and help them get into step.  By focusing on the individual in the home environment we help them learn to share responsibility, relinquish personal control, and recognize the benefits of being part of something bigger than themselves, so that they can contribute to the pillars of a strong group structure.

In addition to personalized attention, we equally emphasis a "fellowship spirit" in which Monarch’s ‘Standards and Structure’ are well designed guidelines put in place to assist our clients with successful group living.  These include; random drug and alcohol screening, medication management, maintained curfew, outside recovery based program attendance, daily house meetings, house chores and general accountability to the group. Providing a time tested and true set of standards helps create much needed structure for people who have been living without any boundaries or limitations.

Monarch aims to create living environments that are filled with other supportive people from the same backgrounds, helping alleviate peer stressors and help the resident to feel at ease. In doing so, this allows the resident to accept and recognize the short-term benefits in order for them to stick around long enough to enjoy the long-term gains seen in recovery.

Many examples, testimonies and studies have demonstrated that destructive living environments can derail recovery for even highly motivated individuals.  With few healthy and structured options available to this at-risk demographic, many are forced into no-win situations from the get go.  The unfortunate part of this situation is that is creates an unnecessary stigma surrounding the benefits of residential recovery living, deterring those that are on the fence about making that critical decision.

In addition, as city, state and federal laws surrounding residential recovery evolve, each Monarch Home is fully licensed, insured and certified. Our house managers are those in recovery that have over 1+ year of sobriety, specifically vetted for their skills and compassion to help others.  Each is trained to Monarch’s highest standards and each is paid with mandated responsibilities and accountability measures in place.  This legitimate structured leadership is a critical component of everyone’s overall success in any group living home.

Another very important component to our success is the careful consideration of the people we admit into our homes. We interview each person before they come into our home to make sure that they are not only sober, committed and ready to work a program but also to be sure they will be a fit for those who are already in the home.  This is a critical factor in making our homes conducive to the serenity and the expectations of our residents.  We also factor in the overall fit for the community as well. In this imperfect world, we all make mistakes and in our industry and regarding the clientele we cater to, no one among the best of us is the exception.  Matters of legal woes are a part of many peoples recovery.  That said, Monarch does not accept individuals with violent criminal records.  Period.  Any other legal discrepancy is considered based on an individual basis.

Monarch also limits the amount of people that live in each home. Many of our competitors add bunk beds or 3 to 4 twin beds per bedroom.  In certain circumstances, we have seen companies in the past designate a mattress in a small closet, behind doors, in unsafe attics, crawl spaces and garages.  These standards are unacceptable, discouraging and demoralizing.  Instead, Monarch offers full size beds with premium mattresses and bedding and allow our residents an abundance of space, encouraging them to make their space comfortable and as homey as possible.

To ensure that our clients are as comfortable as possible we provide premium full size mattress beds with quality bedding, new in-home laundry facilities with detergents, smart 4k televisions, Netflix, cable, top rated high speed internet, in-home computer and printer, new and comfortable furniture, all necessary cleaning supplies, bikes (with some designated for those who cannot drive), exercise equipment, medication management, the allowance to stay as long as needed and a vast network of treatment centers, psychologists and therapists that we work specifically with in our network.

Many competitors acquire multiple basic properties, usually along the same block in the lowest income areas.   These areas usually have little or no local shops, restaurants or entertainment in walking distance.  Many consider these areas unsafe.  Monarch Homes will never undermine the safety or sacrifice the quality of a positive environment, encouraging our residents get out of the house and become active in their communities versus sitting at home in the isolated outskirts of town .  Although it may take more work and cost a little more, we believe setting up our homes in culturally diverse and established neighborhoods is well worth the effort.  It seems that our residents and industry professionals agree.
